Jones Bros has been operating as an irregular route, 48 state and Canada, flatbed carrier since the late 1970's. Jones Bros was incorporated in 1984 and currently operates 40 company trucks and 15 owner operators.
Jones Brothers Trucking began with Casey Jones driving one truck. Deregulation of the trucking industry provided an opportunity for expansion so Casey added additional owner operators to his fleet. Jones Bros was incorporated in 1984 and began to operate company flatbeds servicing northwest Montana, Idaho, and eastern Washington lumber mills and hauling barbed wire, and assorted agricultural products back to the Dakotas, Montana, and the inland Northwest.
As the industry began to face the problem of a driver shortage Jones Bros began to put more emphasis on professionalism and training. Jones Bros hired Safety Director Tom Walter when he left a 25 year career at Watkins and Shepard Trucking. Jones Bros applied Tom’s experience in training to the fleet, attempting to provide all Jones Bros drivers with the professional tools to do their job safely and productively. Jones Bros now enjoys a clean safety record which has shown positive results by moderating liability and workman compensation insurance rates.
In addition to creating quality drivers our training program has allowed Jones Bros to produce some of the best management and dispatch personnel in the industry. All dispatch, sales and management personnel must begin their career at Jones Bros by learning to drive a truck and actually go on the road for up to a year. This requirement gives our management level employees an understanding of the day to day challenges of operating a flatbed truck in all parts of the country. Current drivers and drivers new to Jones Bros are very happy to know that the staff booking loads and giving routing and loading instructions have actually done the job before. Knowledge of the laws and operations allow management to understand the limitations of what can be done in most situations on the road. Jones Bros strives to meet customers’ needs without creating unrealistic expectations.
